HEIDI HAZEN-FORTE - PRESIDENT

Heidi is the owner of Hazen's Athletic Center Inc. She is presently the ASA New York State Women's Commissioner, the founder and director of the Syracuse Fastpitch League Director, the Western Syracuse Fastpitch League director as well as the Director of the Eastern Syracuse Fastpitch League. Heidi has been a college search consultant for College Decision Systems and helped guidance counselors on workshops at various high schools in regards to the college placement for student athletes.
Heidi began Coaching in 1988 at Colgate University. Other responsibilities at Colgate included Academic Liaison for Women's Athletics and the assistant Basketball Coach. She also coached at Utica-Proctor High School and the Syracuse Sun Devils Travel Team. In addition, she offers, individual lessons, pitching clinics at various Central New York High Schools and is a camp instructor for both high school and college ball.

Heidi was inducted into the St. Lawrence High School Hall of Fame. She attended the College of St. Mary's Omaha, NE, on a Full Scholarship. During this time, she pitched in two National Tournaments, won many conference awards, was an All-American nominee and was inducted into the CSM Hall of Fame (2003)



BOB COOK – BASEBALL INSTRUCTOR

Hazen’s Athletic is pleased to announce that  Bob, who is presently a scout for the Cincinnati Reds, has joined our staff.
Bob attended the University of New Haven on a baseball scholarship.  He was primarily a pitcher but he also played backup as a middle infielder. 
His accomplishments include playing two seasons with the New Haven Chargers after which time he signed a professional contract with the Adirondack Lumberjacks of the Northeast League. 
Bob is a Certified Baseball coach by both the State of New York and Doyle Baseball Academy,  He is also a certified personal trainer/strength and  conditioning coach through NSCA-CPT.



JIM RAYMER - BASEBALL INSTRUCTOR

Jim played his high school career at John F. Kennedy (3 years varsity shortstop). Jim later played at MVCC primarily as an infielder but also learned the outfield and catcher positions.
Jim is certified as a baseball coach through New York State and Doyle Baseball Academy. Jim led two different teams to a ENYTB State Championship.
Jim has worked as an NCAA umpire. Jim is also a certified Personal trainer/ strength and conditioning coach through NSCA- CPT.



HOLLY HAZEN - SOFTBALL INSTRUCTOR

Holly is currently in her 3rd year as head coach for Corcoran High School, Syracuse, New York.  She has more than 10 years of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate level.  Two years as Head Coach for Iowa Western Community College after assisting at University of Nebraska – Omaha and College of Saint Mary, Omaha, Nebraska.
Holly’s playing experience started in upstate New York at St. Lawrence Central High School, where she was the first female Hall of Fame inductee for all sports.  All Section X team, MVP and All Northern selections were among her high school accomplishments. She is also in the Junior College and College Hall of Fame. 
Due to her passion for the sport of softball she attended Onondaga Community College with big dreams to play for a Division I school.  Two Time All- American First Team, NJCAA tournament team, MVP awards and pitching back-to-back perfect games are amongst the awards received prior to accepting a full-ride scholarship to Southwest Missouri State.  Division I scholarship offers extended to Mississippi State, Wyoming, and Florida State.  She continued her education and softball career at Southwest Missouri State and College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska.  After playing at the collegiate level she continued to play in the Nebraska Cornhusker State Games, ASA tournaments, and National Tournaments in Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Minnesota, Nebraska and Oklahoma.  During this time All Tournament Team, MVP and Athlete of the Year awards were achieved.
Coaching opportunities followed after graduating and playing competitively.  Holly continued to stay involved by working as a camp clinician, individual and team instructor since 1992.



EMILY HART

Hazen's is pleased to announce the addition of Emily to the pitching staff. Emily is a former student of Heidi's and is thrilled to be on her staff. She played high school ball for APW, graduating in 1999. While there she threw 958 strikeouts and won many state, league and CNY awards.
Emily is a graduate of St. Bonaventure where she was a starting pitcher for all 4 years. She currently holds the school records for career strikeouts and innings pitched.
She is currently volunteering as a pitching coach for the SUNY Oswego Softball Team.



NICK SPATARO- SOFTBALL INSTRUCTOR

Hazen’s Athletic welcomes Nick Spataro as their Fielding & Hitting Instructor.
Nick has been the Head Softball Coach of Liverpool High School for the past 17 years with a record of 286-102.
He was named Coach of the Year for 2002; the same year he took his team to the NYS Final Four.  Under his coaching, Liverpool was League Champions in 2003 (undefeated) and in 2005.  They were Section Champions in 2001, 2002, & 2005.  His team went to the Regional Finals in 2001, 2002 & 2005.  They won in 2002. 
 Nick was named to the Oswego Softball Hall of Fame in 2005.  He has coached the Empire State Teams to Silver and Bronze medals. 
Nick is a graduate of SUNY Cortland and Syracuse University.



RANDY SABOURIN - SPORTS NUTRITION

Randy has joined us as facilitator of the Sports Nutrition courses that will be offered. He is the president of Personal Fitness Inc. in Syracuse, New York. He has several certifications as a personal trainer and is also certified as a post rehab conditioning and Medical Exercise Specialist. Randy is also a member of the America College Of Sports Medicine, IHRSA and IDEA.



JACOB UPWOOD

Hazen's is happy to announce the addition of Jake to its Baseball Staff. He is a graduate of Ithaca College where he was a Starter/Reliever. He was named to the All-Empire Eight First Team twice and left school with a record of 8-3 and an ERA of less than 3.00.

He has played in the Double A League for the past 5 years, most recently with the South Georgia Peanuts of the South Coast League, who were this years champions. He led the team in ERA's. He is a lefty, throwing in the 87-91 mph range. Click here to see all of Jake's accomplishments.



KYLE BROWN

Many of you may be familiar with his name. Kyle holds the all-time career and single season records for stolen bases at LeMoyne College. In 2004, he was rated by "Baseball America" as one of the To 50 Seniors to watch. The New York Mets drafted him in the 18th round.

He played his High School ball at Colonie High (Albany). Twice he was chosen as a member of the All-State Team and is a two-time Empire State Gold Medallist. In 1999, he participated in the PONY World Series and in 2000 he played on the Connie Mack World Series Runner-up Team. He was also named to their All-Tournament Team.
